You will rely on a number of service providers throughout the course of owning a home, including plumbers, painters, landscapers, groundskeepers, cleaning personnel, indoor and outdoor repair professionals, technical support and more. An ideal candidate will take your concerns seriously and willingly volunteer a clear record.

Certified Hire sets the standard for all service providers. This means that every service provider, regardless of occupation or company, must meet the same criteria in order to pass our Certified Hire background check.

A homeowner's service needs might vary, but his or her safety and security needs never change. We do not modify our screening conditions from company to company because at the end of the day, people of all trades and skills must fulfill your screening requirements, as well as your service requirements.

If you know who your service provider is hiring, then you know who to expect.

WHAT MAKES AN EMPLOYEE CERTIFIED HIRE APPROVED?

There are ten criteria a Certified Hire service worker must meet:

  1. No felony convictions or pending charges for a minimum of seven (7) years*
  2. No property crime convictions or pending charges (misdemeanor or higher) for a minimum of seven (7) years*
  3. No violent crime convictions or pending charges (misdemeanor or higher) for a minimum of seven (7) years*
  4. No fraud crime convictions or pending charges (misdemeanor or higher) for a minimum of seven (7) years*
  5. No drug crime convictions or pending charges (misdemeanor or higher) for a minimum of seven (7) years*
  6. No sex crime convictions or pending charges for a minimum of seven (7) years*
  7. Not listed on the national sex offender registry
  8. Not listed on the OFAC (terrorist and drug trafficker) database
  9. Not listed on the United States' Most Wanted list
  10. Has a valid Social Security Number

Each Certified Hire service worker is re-screened annually to ensure that he or she still meets these criteria.

* Certified Hire strictly adheres to state and federal Fair Credit Reporting Act laws, which may limit how and when certain criminal records may be reported. Reportable criminal convictions in any of the above categories will render a decision of "FAIL" regardless of how many years have elapsed.
